Pulpit Minister – Robert (Bob) Heil

Robert Heil Willow Park Church of ChristBob has served as the minister for the Willow Park church since 2001 and has been a minister in churches of Christ for the past 37 years. He has served congregations large and small, established and in missionary settings, from California to New Jersey and points in-between. His education includes studies in the fields of education, theology, with a Master’s Degree in Gerontology. He is developing studies in “Aging and Spirituality.”

He and his wife Barbara have three grown children. All the family are graduates of Abilene Christian University. Barbara has served as an educational specialist for the public schools.

When Barbara and I moved here from Charleston, SC, 11 years ago, we were coming home to Texas. There were several congregations we talked to; one near Waco, another near Austin, but we chose Willow Park because we believe it was GOD’s choice. We have never been disappointed. This community and especially this congregation have really cared for us.

In addition to preaching for the Willow Park Church of Christ, Bob also has served as Chaplain for Christian Care Home Health and Hospice, serves on the board of trustees for Tarrant Area Gerontological Society, (Chairman for their Summer Forum) and also serves on an advisory committee for John Peter Smith Hospital. Bob believes we all need to be involved in our communities – to be a church beyond a building.

Leadership

Our congregation is served by the collective men of the church, including recent elders  Bryan Bogle and Bud Wilcox.

Bud Wilcox

Bud is a Fort Worth nativce, a graduate of Birdville high school.  He was raised in the Baptist church attending the Birdville Baptist church as a youth.  He met his wife of 61 years, Betty, who was attending the Birdville Church of Christ and the two began a Bible study with another couple who were also of different religious backgrounds. They attended both the Church of Christ and the Baptist church as they studied together.  After several months of study Bud was baptized and he committed his life to serving the Lord Jesus Christ.

His job required him to travel and as a result he has been able to serve in various capacities in a number of places.

Bud and Betty were charter members of the Westbury congregation in Houston where he served as a deacon.  He was relocated to San Antonio where he served as a deacon at the McArthur park congregation.  Moving to Dallas they attended teh Prestoncrest congreation and then in Edmond OK, where Bud served as a deacon and as an elder.  Their next move was to St. Louis, MO. and an opportunity to serve as an elder at the Lafayette church.  Bud and Betty also lived in Melbourne Austrailia where they attended and worked with the Belmore Rd congregation.      Bud worked as managing director of Australian Directory Services.

Bud retired from vocational work and returned to the United States and again lived in Edmond OK where he served as an elder.  They then returned to Forth Worth to be near family, began attending the Willow Park congregation, and now serves as an elder.

Bud and Betty enjoy, and have always been active in sharing the gospel with others wheverver GOD has called them to be.
